AIAA 99-1802 Computational Aeroacoustic Analysis of Slat Trailing-Edge Flow

چکیده
An acoustic analysis based on the Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings equation was performed for a high-lift system. As input, the acoustic analysis used unsteady ow data obtained from a highly resolved, time-dependent, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes calculation. The analysis strongly suggests that vor-tex shedding from the trailing edge of the slat results in a high-amplitude, high-frequency acoustic signal, similar to that which w as observed in a corresponding experimental study of the high-lift system.

Understanding Slat Noise Sources
Model-scale aeroacoustic tests of large civil transports point to the leading-edge slat as a dominant high-lift noise source in the lowto mid-frequencies during aircraft approach and landing. Using generic multi-element high-lift models, complementary experimental and numerical tests were carefully planned and executed at NASA in order to isolate slat noise sources and the underlying noise gene...
متن کاملEmpirical study of flat plate trailing edge flow and noise
This paper presents results of an empirical study on the flow and noise generated by the trailing edge of a flat plate encountering low turbulence fluid flow. Simultaneous measurements of flow and far-field noise data have been taken in an anechoic wind tunnel at the University of Adelaide. Velocity data about the trailing edge and in the wake have been measured using hot-wire anemometry. These...
متن کاملSimulating Cooling Injection Effect of Trailing Edge of Gas Turbine Blade on Surface Mach Number Distribution of Blade
In this research, a gas turbine blade cascade was investigated. Flow analysis around the blade was conducted using RSM and RNG.K-ε turbulence modeling and it is simulated by Fluent software. The results were considered for the cases as Mach number loss at the trailing edge of blade caused by vortexes that were generated at the end of blade. Effect of cooling flow through the trailing edge on th...
متن کاملShape optimization for aerodynamic noise control
Noise generated by turbulent boundary layers near the trailing edge of lifting surfaces continues to pose a challenge for many applications. Much of the previous work on this topic has focused on development of accurate computational methods for the prediction of trailing edge noise. For instance, aeroacoustic calculations of the flow over an airfoil using large-eddy simulation (LES) and aeroac...
متن کاملOn the aeroacoustic properties of a beveled plate
The flow around a beveled flat plate model with an asymmetric 25 degrees trailing edge with three rounding radii is analyzed using a Navier-Stokes based open source software package OpenFOAM in order to predict the aeroacoustic properties of the models. A Large Eddy Simulation with a dynamic Smagorinsky and implicit model are used as closure model for the flow solver, and are compared regarding...
